Policies and Procedures

Facilities Use Agreement & Contracted Entity

All users must sign Union College’s facility use agreement and include proof of insurance (limits outlined in the facility use agreement) The Contracted Entity (the group with the signed Facilities Usage Agreement) is responsible for any visitor during your ice time. This includes spectators of the visiting team. The contracted entity is required to provide the visiting team a copy of the rules, and it is the responsibility of the contracted entity to hold the visiting teams to these expectations. 

 

Respectful Environment

  • Fans, players, coaches and spectators must be respectful of event staff and be mindful of their choice of language and activity.  Individuals are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on their group and Union College. Persons acting in a disruptive, disrespectful or disorderly manner may be asked to leave the premises and subject to citation.

 

Union College Facility Rental Terms and Conditions

  • Completion of Facilities use agreement contract.

  • Possession or consumption of alcohol is prohibited in any public area, including tailgates.

  • Smoking and all forms of tobacco products and vaping materials are not permitted on the Union College Campus.

  • No gum or sunflower seeds are allowed in any athletic facility

  • All vehicles must use a designated  parking space

  • The use of tents/canopies and grills is prohibited unless written permission is granted by the Athletic Director or designee

  • All trash and other belongings must be properly disposed of or otherwise removed upon completion of the event

  • No animals (outside of service animals) are allowed inside athletic facilities. Dogs are allowed outside of the outdoor facilities but must be on a leash.

  • Fans and spectators who violate alcohol or any of these policies may be removed from College grounds and prohibited from future events.

  • Permission for outside vendors to be present at an event must be requested one week in advance of the event.


 

Off-Ice, Prior to Ice Time

  • Arrive no earlier than 30 minutes prior to ice time for practice and 60 minutes prior to games.

  • Upon arrival, participants should review and communicate the locker room/dressing area assignments listed on the wall as you enter the upstairs entrance.

  • If anything appears wrong with the locker room/dressing area (tape/debris on the floor, anything broken) please alert the rink attendant immediately.

  • A Coach must be with their players the entire time they are in the rink.

  • No hockey is to be played or practiced in any place inside the Achilles Center other than on the ice. Practicing stickhandling, passing or shooting is not permitted.

  • Dryland training is not allowed inside the Achilles Center.

  • Young children not skating must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and the kids need to remain near the parent or guardian while inside the Achilles Center.

  • Running anywhere in the bleachers is strictly prohibited.

  • No spectators are allowed in either press box area: the North end and the East side on top of the bleachers.

 

Ice Time

  • Players must remain off of the ice until the Resurfacer doors are closed.

  • Coaches/on-ice officials can stay on to help move nets for the Resurfacer driver

  • If the ice time begins late (as a result of the scheduler’s delay), the amount of time late will be added to the end of the ice time.

  • Practice:

    • At the end of practice, all players must be off of the ice, and pucks and other equipment must be picked up by the time the ice time is over. 

    • The Resurfacer will remain off the ice until everyone is off of the ice.

    • All on the ice MUST wear a helmet. No exceptions, regardless of the level.

    • Any equipment used (bumper mat dividers, cones, tires, etc) must be returned to its designated location.

    • If a group requests more than two nets, they group will be responsible for putting the extra nets on and taking them off of the ice.

 

  • Games:

    • The game will not extend any longer than the arranged ice time. If the ice is not ready in time, the ice time will begin when the resurfacer doors are closed. The ice time will begin at the time the resurfacer doors are closed and the full amount of ice time will be available.

    • In the event the amount of time on the game clock matches the amount of time remaining in the ice time, the clock must run without stoppages for the remainder of the ice time. If this does not happen, the game will end at the time the scheduled ice time is over.

    • In the case ice time has expired, teams must exit the ice.


 

  • All players must be off the ice for the Zamboni to enter the ice. 

  • Locker room/dressing areas are to be free of tape and items on the floor.
