SYHA Hockey Families,
We are getting closer to ice hockey opening in New York and the Capital Region. As a sporting/recreational activity, youth ice hockey is a Phase 4 activity. We are hoping that SCRF will reopen around the beginning of July. However, New York State Amatuer Hockey Association (NYSAHA), our governing body, still has not set a schedule for begin ice hockey or tryouts. As soon as NYSAHA provides this guideance, we will schedule some practice/skills sessions and tryouts.
Some other local Associations, as approved by NYSAHA, have been selecting and committing players to their top teams. SYHA decided to not commit any players as we feel that tryouts are the fairest and best way of selecting players for teams. As previouly mentioned, we will schedule tryouts for our top teams as soon as we are permitted by NYSAHA. We will continue to follow our normal process of conducting player evaluations for our other teams (e.g., B/C) at the beginning of the regular season (September).
As a reminder, it is important that 10u to 18u players register for the 2020-21 season as soon as possible (you can register with a $75 deposit). A $200 late fee will be assessed after June 10. We need families to register for 10u to 18u so that we can secure ice time and order uniforms. Registration Link: https://schenectadyyouthhockey.sportngin.com/register/form/346608691. SYHA will refund your 2020-21 registration fee any time before you sign a commitment letter with SYHA. We CANNOT refund any monies paid for game jerseys as they are custom ordered for your size and number. See registration information below.
We will keep you posted and relay information as we receive it. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Registration must be completed by 6/10/20 to avoid a $200 late fee (10u to 18u). We need solid registration numbers by 6/10 to allow us to order game jerseys and secure ice time for the upcoming season. SYHA will refund your 2020-21 registration fee any time before you sign a commitment letter with SYHA. We CANNOT refund any monies paid for game jerseys as they are custom ordered for your size and number.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Hockey announced on June 10 that it will conduct its Level 1-4 coaching certification clinics virtually until it is deemed safe to host large group gatherings. In addition, a new temporary card is being introduced as a flexible option for coaches to maintain their certification if they are unable to attend virtual coaching clinics due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Virtual clinics will begin immediately and include 30-50 coaches at a time. Coaches can find scheduled clinics here and registration information here.
The temporary card will allow each coach to have the proper level of certification for the 2020-21 season without attending a clinic. The temporary card applies to coaching levels 1-4 and will be offered through June 30, 2020.
Click here to register for the temporary card online or download the form that can be completed and submitted to the USA Hockey national office. All coaches who sign up for the temporary card will be able to participate in any virtual or in-person USA Hockey coaching clinic this season if their circumstances change for no additional charge.
